Richard Meredith - Associate Trainer - Audio

Richard entered the world of broadcast sound after completing his HND in TV Broadcast Operation, from the highly renowned Ravensbourne College in 1988. 



After a brief period of employment at the Rover Group’s in house video production facility in Oxford, Richard gained a trainee sound position with the BBC, at the famous Pebble Mill Broadcast Centre in Birmingham. 



Being part of the fastest ever intake to reach their fully qualified sound assistant status in just 18 months, Richard was soon engaged in a broad range of sound duties, both within the TV and Radio fields.  Soon he was working on productions with pedigree, within TV and radio drama departments.  

With continued exposure to all genre of sound duties, include periods creating the audio world of “The Archers” and numerous music recordings for the BBC Radio network, Richard continued to progress rapidly through the audio hierarchy.  Finally, after returning to TV drama for the last years of his employment within the BBC, he joined the freelance ranks and continued a successful period recording some of the original Dalziel and Pascoe series, and several one off drama’s for BBC 1 and 2. 



With the reality show trend in its infancy, Richard pursued his enjoyment of complex recording scenarios and boundary pushing, helping to form the template of current audio recording methods for multi-single camera shoots. 



With the development of a multitrack sound mobile unit and complementary mixdown studio facility, Richard was able to maintain his enjoyment of music production within in house facilities and provide the highest quality of service to all his client base, recording and mixing both for TV, Radio and DVD release in stereo and 5.1 surround. 



Richard is most at home on location and continues daily involvement with a variety of productions.  Sound Supervisor credits include “The Restaurant”– Raymond Blanc’s challenge based show to find a new restaurant partner; ‘’Red or Black’’ – Simon Cowell’s game show; ‘’The Great British Bake Off’’ and  ‘’Power Struggle’’ – a kids adventure challenge show, set in the Jordanian desert.
