Manage your Message in a Corporate World
Media Training
The aim of the media training sessions is to help clients feel confident about using the media in a proactive way and to target their message rather than being at the mercy of the journalist. Individuals and companies are encouraged to embrace any media opportunity as a chance to promote their business and themselves.
Presentation Skills
You never get a second chance to make a first impression. How we dress, act and speak is vital if we want to get our message across. Joanna runs training courses for individuals and groups to enhance their presentation skills on all levels. Planning well is at the very heart of making a good presentation. Poor planning results in poor performance. Communication is the key to success.
Voice Coaching
Research has shown that 38 per cent of our success in getting our message across is about how we sound. Joanna capitalises on her own broadcasting background and success as a high profile voice coach to media professionals, to help people find their voice and feel confident in any situation. Individual voice coaching sessions are aimed at encouraging people to use their voice to its full potential.
Interview Techniques
Any interview is a potentially nerve-racking situation for any of us, whether we’re going for a job or marketing our company. An interview is an opportunity to promote our skills and ourselves but it can also present an occasion for us to let ourselves down by not being at our best. Joanna specialises in techniques that guarantee results. By helping individuals to prepare for any interview situation they will be able to perform at the highest level.
Personal Presentation Skills
People never get a second chance to make a first impression. Presenting yourself at your best is vital if you want to engage your audience and get your message across.
This workshop will look at verbal and non-verbal communication with the emphasis on practical experience and feedback. These sessions can be helpful for both managers and staff to work through communication blocks and find successful solutions whether it’s running meetings, negotiating face to face or communicating by phone or email.
Communication skills are about saying what you want to say so others hear you, understand and respect you. This workshop will cover voice and presentation skills, targeting your message, body language and assertiveness skills.
Topics include: -
- Knowing your audience
- Understanding the key points that need to be made
- Constructing the presentation
- Delivering the talk
- How to hold your audience and involve them.
Assertiveness Skills Training
Being assertive is about clear, direct communication. It’s about being heard and getting our message across and our needs met. We live in a blame culture but the path to success is about taking personal responsibility for one’s life and career path. Teamwork is one of the foundation stones and in these sessions we look at how individuals and groups work together. Being assertive, rather than aggressive or passive, really is the way forward.
The sessions will focus on practical ways of communicating effectively. We will look at the power of language and how owning what you say and feel can make a tangible difference in the workplace. The training is about helping people to feel more confident, be better communicators, learn how to accept constructive feedback and have awareness of their body language. It’s not just what we say that matters it’s how we say it!
Raise Your Profile
To help people capitalise on their expertise and raise their profile in the public and media arena as well as demonstrating their value to the company internally. “A vision of where you want to go and who you want to be is the greatest asset you have”. Generating and keeping a high profile both internally and externally is central to an individual’s success. Understanding your personal expertise and seeing how you can raise your profile.
This workshop takes the format of a group seminar followed up by one to one coaching sessions with targets.
Constructive Feedback Training and Team Building
Critical or absent feedback leads to demoralised staff and in some cases poor communication can be interpreted as bullying. In the light of high profile cash handouts in the banking industry and more employment lawyers being brought in to combat workplace intimidation, there is a growing awareness of the need to address these problems.
As well as technological changes and staff cutbacks there are issues of performance management and diversity to consider. To provide an environment that encourages individuality and opportunity we need to support line managers to embrace change and progress. Constructive feedback and good leadership are the secrets of success. The aim of the feedback sessions with line managers is to learn to:
- Communicate effectively
- Enhance listening skills
- Learn to give constructive feedback
- Mentor
- Take personal responsibility and encourage staff to do the same.
- Manage change
- Think outside the box
- Encourage new ideas
- Map the future – the importance of incentives and opportunities
- Progress to success
- Embrace diversity.
